Each year our Annual Sports Day is a highly anticipated, much loved event. Due to the current restrictions on mass gatherings, unfortunately parents couldn’t attend this year ( but enjoyed the events of the day via comprehensive video footage).

Our Sports Day is an amalgamation of a traditional Japanese sports day and an Australian sports day. Activities such as the ‘Tug of War’ battle and the ‘Big Ball ‘ race had both the red and white team’s battling it out for the victory! Students have been practicing hard in their sports classes for the special ‘Soran Dance’ performance. It was wonderful to see them in their black and red Happi coats and red headbands and all dancing in unison. The sprints by each year level were exciting. Every student ran as fast as they could with the encouragement by all the students cheering them on!

The afternoon part of the day started with light rain but by the time all the students performed the Genghis Khan Dance and the performance by the Cheerleading Club was completed, the sun was shining!

Overall, the White team won Sports Day for 2020. The trophy to the team was presented by the School Principal. We look forward to our Sports Day next year and do hope it will go back to our usual with parents also cheering on the students!
