The much-awaited overnight excursion to Vision Valley was last week. The Stringy Bark Lodge where we stay is set in a peaceful bushland setting above a small lake surrounded by unique flora and fauna of the Australian bush.

This trip enables students to practice being responsible and allows them to make many decisions for themselves. They use their “You Can Do It Keys” of being: Organised, Confident, and Getting Along, as well as being Persistent and Resilient during every activity. They were a joy to take away and a credit to their families. The Vision Valley staff always remark about their lovely behaviour and positive attitudes. All students participated in all the activities and the fast-paced timetable from early morning until after dark mean that they were fast asleep almost as soon as they got into bed.

When I asked them what they thought of the trip, they universally replied; “It was awesome” and “We should go there every year”.
