Sydney Japanese International School (International Division) is located on Sydney’s northern beaches. We offer the NSW K-6 curriculum to children from diverse cultural backgrounds with a focus on wellbeing , academic rigour and exceptional educational opportunities.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time, K-6 teacher 2026
Please note SJIS commences the school year on 12th January 2026
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching within the School’s Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Justice, Courtesy, Generosity and Perseverance.
- Writing, implementing and evaluating teaching programs
- Developing effective assessment and reporting procedures
- Actively participating in the planning of curriculum, writing of programs and scope and sequences
- Developing and using an innovative curriculum on the school’s systems
- Using formative and summative assessments to determine student progress
- Creating a stimulating classroom environment where students can flourish
- Submitting reports at a professional standard that demonstrates an understanding and knowledge of each student
- Submitting marking, reports, and results promptly on the school’s central database and meeting deadlines
- Planning for and understanding of individual student academic needs and progress, including enrichment and learning support
- Monitoring and reporting on the progress of all students
Essential Criteria
- Appropriate tertiary and teaching qualifications and accreditation with NESA
- High standard of competency and proficiency as a classroom teacher
- Experience or willingness to grow your skills in K-6 teaching role
- A demonstrated ability to cater for individual needs and differentiate the curriculum
- A sound knowledge of the K-6 NSW syllabuses
- A commitment to facilitating outstanding results for all students, particularly ensuring that student results are monitored and tracked and that specific strategies are implemented to improve results
- An ability to plan for and implement authentic assessment that informs teaching and learning
- A strong commitment to student wellbeing and to meeting students’ social and emotional needs
- Enthusiasm and willingness to participate in co-curricular activities and contribute to the broader life of the School community especially in the areas of PE and/or ICT and/or debating.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and writing skills
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills
- Willingness to continue to develop as a teacher
- A valid Working with Children clearance
- A firm commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
- A demonstrated understanding of child safety and appropriate behaviours when engaging with children
- Willingness to participate in professional learning which is linked to the school’s future academic goals
Japanese language skills are not required however they would be considered advantageous

We are seeking to appoint a part time (0.6) Learning support teacher, K-6, commencing in mid January, 2026, Term 1 to the end of Term 3 (may extend) in a parental leave position.
Please note SJIS starts the school year on 12th January 2026
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching within the School’s Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Justice, Courtesy, Generosity and Perseverance.
- Guide a small team of SLSOs.
- Collaborate as part of the Learning Support Team, working closely with the classroom teachers, specialist teachers and SLSOs
- Teach in a range of contexts, including individual, small group, and team teaching.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Liaise effectively with parents, teachers, and external agencies to support student learning.
- Lead professional development for staff and workshops for parents.
- Analyse student data, including NAPLAN, to track growth and inform targeted interventions.
- Willingness to undertake the requirements of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).
Essential Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications and NESA accreditation to teach in NSW (postgraduate qualifications in diverse learning highly regarded).
- Proven experience teaching in primary classrooms and supporting diverse learning needs.
- Knowledge of the Disability Standards for Education.
- Expertise in literacy and numeracy programs tailored to student needs in particular MultiLit suite of resources
- Demonstrated ability in case management and assessment
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in ICT for teaching, administration, and professional learning.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and writing skills
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills
- Willingness to continue to develop as a teacher
